Everything I tried seems to work without problems, except Zenmap. I downloaded the beta, and installed it in a Virtalbox VM, and then applied the configurations and installations I use and depend on. I have been looking at LMDE for some time, as I have been progreeively less pleased with the behavior of Canonical/Ubuntu. from-20-04 for particulars.Ī few days ago, LMDE 5 beta was released. There are a number of articles indicating that Zenmap was pulled from the Ubuntu repositories early in 2020, as it depends on Python2, which went EOL then. In addition Flatpak installed gigabytes of files to support this one package, which also didn't thrill me. This issue doesn't exist under root Zenmap. I've tried the Flatpak version of Zenmap, and it is basically useless for me, as it would not operate under the root user, so it cannot access the ethernet device. I've tried NmapSI4, and it doesn't excite me. I have tried several, and hands down, I prefer Zenmap. In such situations I like to use a network scanner to survey the devices, etc.
